Brief Description:

The source of the river Gomti is in the hilly areas of Amarpur, Udaipur and Sonaimuri in the Indian state of Tripura. It enters Bangladesh through the border of Katkabazar in Adarsha Sadar upazila of Comilla district and falls into the Meghna river through Burichang, Brahmanpara, Debidwar, Muradnagar, Titas and Daudkandi upazilas. The length of the river in Bangladesh is 63 km. At one time the river was called the sorrow of Comilla, but now it has dams on both the banks of the river, which has brought benefits to agriculture and irrigation. If roads are paved on both banks of the river, it is likely to become an important tourist destination.
